Tips & Tricks

Do's & Don'ts to applying nail strips

  • Select the right size strip for your nail (slightly smaller is best!)

  • Make sure your hands are WARM! If your hands are too cold its possible the nail wraps won't be as pliable and may not adhere to your nail as well

  • Prep nails: Push back cuticles, buff nails, wash hands so they are clean and dry

  • We recommend using a base coat (one coat) prior to nail wrap application for extra adhesion. We recommend "Essie Strong Start Base Coat"

  • Apply thumbs last as that is your working finger

  • Only file the excess of the nail wrap in a downward motion. Filing in an upward motion can cause tearing and wearing of the wrap.

  • Do not apply strip over any skin/cuticle! This will cause lifting. Ensure strip adheres directly to the nail only.

  • Use a top coat as the final step of your nail wrap application (one-two coats). We recommend "Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Top Coat" DO NOT use quick, fast or instant drying top coats, this will cause the nail wraps to "wrinkle" on the nail. Using a UV Gel Top Coat with a UV Lamp is another great option and can provide even longer lasting results.

  • Don't forget to "cap" the tip of your nail when applying the top coat as this will help prevent wearing and/or lifting.

  • If none of the wraps properly fit one or more of your nails you can trim the bigger wrap to the size of the nail. It is best to use a slightly smaller wrap than a bigger one as it's important that the wrap does not cover any cuticle/skin. This will cause the nail wrap to lift with wear causing it to wear off faster and hook/catch on hair, clothes etc. Pro tip: Like regular polish using a slightly smaller wrap than your nail size will also make your nails appear longer

  • Apply nail wraps in room temperature/slight warmth (may use slight heat from hair dryer if necessary) this will make nails more pliable and easier to work with

  • Do your best to avoid water/moisture including lotion & cuticle oil to hands for a couple hours after application.
